Koolhaas in numbers

Business manager / cultivation manager

Koolhaas Potted plants i

We are a young, dynamic and progressive greenhouse horticulture company of approximately 22,000 m². Both bell peppers

grown as pot plants in a combined cultivation system. We are a progressive company in development in which the young entrepreneur Michiel Koolhaas is the driven man. Michiel's vision is to completely switch the company from Paprika to Potted plants in the next 5 years. Exclusive Calathea varieties are already being cultivated and will form the basis of a special range of plants in the future.

Function:
In this position of Manager / Cultivation Manager you are ultimately responsible for the daily organization and, in collaboration with Michiel, the cultivation. It will partly be your responsibility to make the conversion, which has already started, into a full-fledged pot plant company. This will take a period of three years. During and after this period you are responsible for the daily organization with a team of 6-7 people.

Responsibilities:
• Daily management of the team in the pot plants.
• Fully manage daily sales (together with Michiel), administration and transport.
• Monitoring quality, packaging and service of the products to be delivered
• Taking care of cultivation, climate and water management. This in collaboration with the grower and information officer.
• Optimizing business processes for a good quality/cost ratio.
• Creating and monitoring a fertilization and crop protection plan, including scouting and deploying biological control.

Who are you:
Because you are ultimately responsible for the plants to be delivered, a great sense of responsibility is a must. You also have ambition and are a builder to achieve the goals with this company. As an experienced or aspiring organiser, you understand that the activities go beyond 9-5, so flexibility is needed. As well as the willingness to alternate between making a round of the company and walking breakdown services during the weekend. Love for the profession is therefore essential, because then it doesn't feel like working, but like 'taking care of'. You are also cost-conscious, quality-oriented and you can keep a good overview and plan, because with a large assortment it is fairly complex and labour-intensive. In addition, you have leadership capacities that contribute to achieving the best results as a team.

Knowledge and experience:
• A completed MBO training in a relevant direction is an advantage.
• Several years of experience in glasshouse cultivation, preferably in pot plants.
• Experience as a manager and responsible person.
• Any technical affinity is very welcome.
• Familiar with climate control.
• Familiar with labor registration.
• Spray license / crop protection / recognize diseases & pests / biological systems.
• Good command of the Dutch language, some knowledge of English is an advantage.
• Live in the region or willing to relocate.

We offer:
Challenge! That is paramount. But you are not alone, you are supported by the owner and cultivation advisor. In short, a fantastic opportunity to make something beautiful out of this together! An appropriate salary and fringe benefits that match the position and your level of experience.

"I CAN CONTINUE BUILDING WITH KOOLHAAS POTS PLANTS"

The exclusive cultivations and the fact that they are developed from the start requires a relatively large amount of thinking and manual work. There are pot plant companies in the sector where a floor with pot plants is continuously emptied and then filled again. Due to the uneven growth and the extra attention that the plants need, we have many more sorting moments before the floor is empty, which means that the turnover rate of the cultivation floors is lower than the industry average. Our vision is that every plant is a gift that should look healthy, fresh and qualitatively at its best.
